The Soviets launched a counter offensive at Odessa in Sept of 1941 with the main spearhead being the 3rd naval infantry regiment. They killed 200 Romanian soldiers and captured a long range artillery battery that had been shelling Odessa. They also eventually caputured hundreds of pows and equipment.
I have a link to this somewhere relating to Russian Amphibious operations in the Black Sea. I'll try and dig it out, its an interesting read.
I bought a e-book about the Soviet naval infantry at this site. It it well done. Alot of good options at this site. Military How To, Espionage and Military History Books

An excellent example of a combined forces operation. It shows that the Soviets possessed the ability to carry out properly organised and co-ordinated attacks even in 1941. Next time anyone refers to "Hordes of Russians charging to their deaths" show them this as a rebuttal!
Hello to all, do you know the history of the 3rd Soviet Naval Infantry Regimet? Where the unit fought after Odessa until the end of WW2? Thanks, Nicholas.
