From an Italian viewpoint: "Operation Crusader ITALIANS SAVE BUMBLING ROMMEL" The YouTuber that posted it has a few other substantial contemporary clips up. His titling is often... forceful.... but not a national perspective we really see much of.
Interesting... I wonder if the title/date has to do with Rommel's dash to the wire which didn't work? Truck-mounted field guns at 1:33
I shared this footage on a couple of scale modeling sites. One softskin expert posted a list of what he recognized, I guess I'll repost it verbatim as it includes a possible answer to David's question: This is from Ilian Filipov who posted on missing-lynx.com: 0:18 - Captured Morris CS8 converted to 65/17 gun carriers with reworked body; 0:41 and 1:27 - Lancia 3Ro gun trucks with 100/17 howitzer (they built them rigid for sure but nevertheless I wonder how many such recoils a truck can withstand before the chassis to disintegrate); 0:52 - Some Canadian 30cwt (?) MCP; 2:21 - Chevrolet CMP gun tractor C-GT with cab 12 and most probably 7A2 body; 2:25 - (not a softskin) 40mm Bofors AA gun (of British origin); 2:29 - Ford F30 CMP cab 11; 2:38 - Chevrolet C60S CMP cab 12 with 2pdr gun; 2:48 - Some Canadian commercial, 30cwt or 2-ton; 2:56 - Bedford MWV; 3:01 - Morris CS8, burned out but still recognizable; 3:03 - CMP, but it is impossible to say from this angle (to me at least) is it Chevrolet or Ford and is it cab 11 or 12; 3:04 - Mack EXBX.
