Today with a friend I visited Runnymede Memorial, planned late last night so apologies for anyone needing any pictures from there!

I have never visited before, such a beautiful and peaceful place. I have uploaded a few pics that I thought all would like to see.

One especially one for 'Spidge', I don't know if the writer is related, but none are forgotten

    Regards

    Andy

PS. Geoff, do you have all the RAAF chaps from here?

PS. Geoff, do you have all the RAAF chaps from here?

I had someone who photographed all the panels (I thought) however some are missing.

The ones I do not have are all the Aussies in the RAF who were classed as UK.

There are 1,447 Aussies listed on the Runnymede memorial of which 57 were killed whilst in the RAF.

These are the first (4) listed on Panel (1)

I didnt get those! only started taking pictures at Panel 64 then saw the RAAF ones, so only got those ones! Also it was a short notice thing as well so I didn't have time to post to say I was going. I may go back but not for a while. If you don't have them by then let me know

    Regards

    Hi Andy,

    No problems.

I only highlighted these as panel (1) is 1939 and the lads were listed early. Once I get down to listing Surrey requirements, we may have some luck.

I have to cross check which panels I have and which I don't though being over 1400 it takes a bit of time which I do not have at present.

    Cheers

    Thanks Peter.

If they knew where he crashed, was his body not found as he is listed at Runnymede?

    Any clues?

    Cheers

I was told yesterday that we have to go back, apparently we missed some Polisjh chaps who served with RAF and were KIA at Arnhem
Dont know when but will hopefully give plenty of notice next time!

    Geoff,

My source just states that he "Has no known grave"
I assume his body was never found.

Of the crew of seven, two were killed and five became pow's. The other to be killed Sgt. D C. Houghton RAAF, is buried in Berlin.

    Regards
    Peter.

    Andy,

Oh my goodness, what happened here to this post? But, that was the bad news.

The good news is that our fearless Peter Clare has done the deed for which I am grateful. I share his photos with the lads in our Wing and they also expressed gratitude.

    Thanks ever so much.

    Happy Feast of St. Stephen.
