IMG_0763.JPG a elderly friend who I'm helping to research her father has unearthed this photo

Her father served 1st Btn Motor Company Grenadier Guards

We are waiting for his service records and he earnt the 3945 star France and Germany defence and war medals

In the photo they are wearing grenadier guards shoulder flashes and has Montgomery inspecting them

    With other unknown dignitaries

    Does anyone recognise where taken?

    Many thanks
    James

    Hi,

    The Russian is Marshal Zhukov.

Quick google search on "Marshal Zhukov inspects Grenadier Guards 1945" turns up a link to this book -

    Once a Grenadier

Your photo is on Page 14. It was taken in Berlin in July 1945. I haven't looked any further through the book but if you do you may find mention of the location and date it was taken in the text.
