Service Records is the way forward if you want to be 100%. Don't forget men were moved around and attached to various units all the time, some were attached because they could drive, some were battlefield casualty replacements, some may not have been able to join their parent unit and sent to the nearest appropriate one. CWGC would more than likely be given his parent unit by the war office and not the units they were attached to.

A Sidney L Nash was married in Halifax, Yorkshire in 1940, spouse maiden name Bowes.
    No epitaph.

For what it's worth, there is just one other DLI casualty, but no Battalion info......
PARK, JOHN THOMAS. Private. Service Number 4396576
Died 15/02/1944. Aged 31. Durham Light Infantry
Son of William and Margaret Park, of Darlington, Co. Durham.
Buried at BEACH HEAD WAR CEMETERY, ANZIO. Grave: XXII. D. 3.

The CWGC Cemetery Information says ". The site of the cemetery originally lay close to a casualty clearing station. Burials were made direct from the battlefield after the landings at Anzio and later, after the Army had moved forward, many graves were brought in from the surrounding country. "
Doesn't answer any questions, but others with knowledge might find the answer!
