Major Guenther Zoeller – courage in the very last moment

Zoeller was the commander of an ammunition depot The size of Monaco today in Urlau close to Leutkirch from 1st March 1945

The war was lost, but he had the order to blow up the depot including toxic weapons with Phosgen, Adamsit, Lost and the new nerve gas Tabun on 23rd April 1945. Allied troops were already close.

Zoeller did all to slow down the strict orders with delaying tactics and succeeded.

    A very dangerous tactic though.

But Zoeller survived the war in good health. Today, there is a memorial stone at the entrance of what is now a Holiday Camp to remember this brave man.
