Jan ten Klooster

I wonder if any of our genealogists would be able to find the family of Jan ten Klooster?

He was the Captain of the Dutch vessel SS Costa Rica, sunk off the coast of Greece in 1941.

Unfortunately, if that tree is complete, it appears that the only son died in 1983.
I guess there could be some other relatives around though.

I don't know if you read all the info in the earlier posts but when Costa Rica was sunk she had 2600 Allied troops on board, just evacuated from Greece. Three RN destroyers managed to get them all off, and the crew, before she finally went down. Ten Klooster was subsequently awarded a British DSC but unfortunately died before it could be presented.

By a strange co-incidence the crews of the LCTs that picked up many troops from the Greek coast had sailed from Glasgow to Egypt on board Costa Rica as part of convoy WS5. The landing craft Officers often dined with Ten Klooster during the voyage and they regarded him very highly. The night before arrival in Egypt they had something of a party on board and a veteran landing craft Officer still has a copy of the menu for that party.

This all came to light when helping to research the book in my signature and two chapters are devoted to the convoy and the loss of Costa Rica. I would like to let any surviving family members have a free copy of the book.
