I am writing this post in hope that someone could provide me with some information in respect of Janet Stewart who was a missionary docter in China somewhere between WW1 & WW2. About 1942 she was the opening medical officer at Galloway House when it opened as a hospital. I have no other details of her and have failed to find anything. Any information would be gratefully received. Happy Christmas & New Year.

    Another candidate here.
From the All UK & Ireland, Medical Directories, 1845-1942
    Janet Mcleod Stewart 1925 8, Balmoralcresc.,queen's Pk., Glasgow, S. 2.
Janet McLeod Stewart 1930 9, Athole Gdns., Kelvinside, Glasgow, W. 2.
Janet McLeod Stewart 1935 9, Athole Gdns., Kelvinside, Glasgow, W. 2, Scotland
Janet McLeod Stewart 1940 East Suburb, Moukden, Manchuria.
Janet McLeod Stewart 1942 East Suburb, Moukden, Manchuria.

Its a bit of a B that the records don't go a little further so that we could see where she was in 1943.

The areas in Glasgow are pretty affluent. Chances are that she got her medical degree at Glasgow University.

No relevant births or marriages for a Janet Mcleod Stewart, but a 92 year old died in Helensburgh in 1993.

A Margaret Stewart is mentioned in the Aberdeen Press and Journal newspaper 12 April 1927 at the 9 Athole Gardens address but it's too scrambled to make any sense. It might be a death announcement.

The papers also seem to mention a Rev. John Stewart in Manchuria around 1941 & 42 having arrived from China.

Hopefully Glasgow University can shed some light on Janet's date of birth.
