    Nice little runabout.
One careful Nazi owner before going into preservation...

Optimistic price on PIV - very much so - especially given the reliable rumours that all this was picked over 'by the big boys' so everything that is up for auction tends to be (very) optimistically priced and what 'they' turned down.

I hear some of the cream went to Billings & I think the Patton museum, (dodgy memory, not double checked)
But... Littlefield was often only really interested in a vehicle if it was what he described as 'rare' - classified by him personally as actually meaning 'unique'.
I'd not be surprised if there was summat to this particular IV/H

Though having said that. $2.5M is 'only' c.£1.5M. Surely not that far off retail for a complete IV in good order, considering some of the completish IV wrecks that have sold in the last decade for quite mental money..

We'll see I suppose. Only a month or so to go.

Mind you, I've just noticed the estimates on the Sd.Kfz.7 and jumbo Sherman...
    Not exactly cheap.

I'd just like to see someone buy the Churchill toad and donate it to Bovington.

The Toad went quite cheap when you bear in mind what it cost to restore.

I find certain prices very, very interesting and completely out of kilter with the current market. Also scuttlebutt is many of those vehicles had been stored outside and would need a vast amount of TLC compared to how they were billed.

Not clear who actually bought it according to what is stated in that article. Seems a weird way of doing business. Can't imagine anyone handing over that sooper-dooper pocket money without a watertight contract in place. Watch that space. Always interesting when very wealthy people sue each other. All about egos.

I wasn't sure either, but then realised there was a button to click to read more.
Still a tad unclear. More to it one suspects.

    Better article:

Sounds like a disconnect between the Collings chaps and the auction house.

I didn't realise Allen collected land stuff as well. Thought he was all about the aircraft.

Very nice Loyd & 6 pdr:

An insight into why when chatting to US halftrack owners, they look pained when the subject of track condition comes up:
    http://www.milweb.net/webvert/a1610
€2250 each, or a couple of hundred more with sprocket

    Chaffee for c.£80k

M4a4 with characterful holes punched in the side, €65K (I'm guessing a shell, unless the bottom has very much dropped from that market...):

Halftracks are exceptionally volatile investments. The M4A4 has been sitting there on/off for a while, complete dog - not even worth a third of that from scuttlebutt.

That dozer was restored by the Dutch company BAIV who then exhibited it at the last War and Peace Show to be held at Folkestone in 2016. They've done a brilliant job and the photo was taken while at Folkestone. BAIV restore quite a lot of vehicles and which has included a full-size scale model :) of my fathers Comet tank 'Celerity'.
