    Stalin!
    Please.

And people wonder why we have a guideline against discussing politics...

    My apologies to you all.

Well there's a reason for the saying "those who can't do, teach" I guess. Unfortunately there's always a place for them too.

When I was in college, the only profs I had a hard time with were the political science types. Most were leftover hippies from the Vietnam era who lived in the past. Of all of them, one was pretty cool but you really had to pay attention to him when he spoke. He was a Nigerian fellow that taught comparative politics. I really liked him.

At least the foreign monarch's picture is long gone from our currency and we don't have a "Governor General" meddling in our internal affairs either.

Stop bragging! We wouldn't need a Governor General if we had talent like Sarah Palin or Nancy Pelosi. :D

There is another nutty professor who has some rather odd theories about Pearl Harbor. Made a career out of it. Again it's a case of pay him no mind. can't even remember his name now.

Sorry! I'm afraid no single country has a monopoly on moronic and inept politicians. We too have more than our share. Starting with Quebec separatists.
On a point of order, the Queen is not a foreign monarch. She is ours too. Historically and by choice. The GG is her representative in Canada but almost purely ceremonial. We are completely independent but most Canucks appreciate the commonwealth heritage and connection. Besides, they'd be speaking German with a Liverpool accent if we colonials didn't come over and bail them out every few generations. :D

I know all about your relationship to the old country and the GG - got a lot of family in your neck of the woods - (Quebec and Ontario) and having lived on the border am very familiar with Canadian politics. I've gotten as much laughs out of them as with our own bunch. The comedy routines I used to hear on the CBC about the politicians were hilarious!

But anyway, my jamming about the Queen with that Aussie was not meant to disrespect either my neighbors to the north and your heritage or our steadfast allies across the Atlantic.
