Curiously the Roll of Honour in the Scots Guards History has noted Guardsman D.J. McKenzie as a member of the 1st Battalion at the time of his death in Italy. Furthermore this Roll does not distinguish between KIA or DOW etc.

On the 30th January the 1st Battalion were participating in an unsuccessful Night Attack alongside 1IG; the Brigade objective being Campoleone.
    Remembering Today 30/1/44 Guardsman:Harold Wignall,2696339,Scots Guards 1st Bn.

On the same date the 2nd Battalion Scots Guards took over and started to settle into positions west and below Trimonsuoli which had formerly been occupied by the Coldstream Guards.
