Always interested to hear from people with information, photos or an interest in this unit - or any veteran contacts.

    Paul,

Is there anything particular you may be needing a pic or info on as I live round the corner from the RSX museum as I think you may already know from GWF.

Thanks Ryan - I have already explored that avenue, but I would appreciate the addresses of any local Royal Sussex associations that might have veteran members - suggest you email me.

    Paul

I have a couple of photos of a Royal Sussex officer from WW2. Don't know his name, but you might recognise him?

Not even sure if he was with 1st bn, but one of the two photos has a French language, north African?, back. In that photo he is wearing Battledress, with no visible badges.

However, in the other photo he is wearing Service Dress and is clearly in the Royal Sussex.

As soon as I am settled in where I am going I will look for these photos and let you have scans.

    Cheers

Thanks Tony - I think it will take a while for this forum to get started. The webmaster could do with advertising it on some other sites, but I suspect once it gets logged by Google etc it will soon grow in popularity.

Look forward to seeing those photos.

    Hi Paul,

I am always interested to hear of any photographs, paperwork, militaria etc relating to this battalion, which served with 4th (Indian) Division in North Africa and Italy; I am more interested in its period of service in Italy 1943-45 than anything else.

Happy to buy items or accept copies etc.

Also always keen to trace veterans.

Unfortunately I do not have any nominal rolls for the regiment for WW2. None exist in the National Archives or County Records Office for this period. Your own chance of information is to obtain his service record from MOD.

However, if you post the photo you have that may offer some clues?

Thanks Donnie, but this enquiry was about their WW2 history not the earlier one. Your offer of help appreciated, however!

    Binney -
You appear to have made the same request on two different threads- on your initial posting - I beleive I answered your query by stating that he appeared to have been in 2nd Battalion at Alam el Halfa and El Alamein -in Egypt - with the 44th Division which was broken up and therefore some of them went to the 10th battalion of the paras with the 4th paras brigade at Tunisia - from there they went back to the uk and took part in the Ahrnem battle - I think you might find that your Father was in that group ......

    Cheers
