Entering the Ruins of Goch, 1st February 1945.

On 1st February 1945 the 8th Royal Scots took part in the attack on Goch and Cleve. The picture shows Sgt Brown, Pte Lawson, Pte Randle, L-Cpl Campbell, Pte Doonan and Cpl Gates of ‘B’ Company cautiously entering the suburbs. 'B' Company 8RS claim they were the first troops to enter the ruins of Goch. Picture and caption from "FIRST O' FOOT", the Battalion’s newspaper, Serial Number 8, dated 26 January 1946, which was published in Germany by the Battalion’s Education Department.
