Infantry Section Leading. 1938. Formations.
In Infantry Section Leading 1938, Chapter VII dealt with Ground and Formations and showed a series of line drawings illustrating Section formations. This drawing shows a section advancing in arrowhead formation. Note the dress worn before battle dress was introduced, which included wearing long puttees and old-style webbing with a number of small ammunition pouches to store your clips of point-303. It was the style of uniform we wore in the Territorial Army when I first joined the 8th Battalion The Royal Scots in May 1939, before being equipped  with battle dress, short canvas puttees and the Bren pouch style of webbing.
