As a boy lieutenant, I was coerced into giving the name Princess Elizabethh to my until-then nameless P-51B by an eager young PIO (Public Information Officer) from New York. Named in honor of "the" Elizabeth (later to be Queen Elizabeth), it was though that favorable publicity would accrue to the group should I do some good things in combat in the 51. However, I immediately succumbed to the kidding and changed the name to what I considered the complete social antithesis - Moonbeam McSwine."
