Haven't made my way through the entire thread so it may already have had a mention but I'm just watching 'Eagles over London' on Talking Pictures and it's fantastic. So wrong in so many ways, but so much so that you don't find yourself nit-picking but just enjoy the movie for what it is. And the odd thing is that not only is it great fun - Van Johnson as an RAF air vice-marshal is especially worth watching - but in places it's actually quite clever too. You can catch it on Talking Picture's 'Encore' service.

Oh, that looks very good. Available for free on youtube as well.

Van Johnson went from an USAAC captain in Thirty Seconds over Tokyo to RAF air vice-marshal in one war. :)

Last night I watched "All Quiet on the Western Front" on Netflix, its a 2022 German remake of the classic. Follows the theme OK but not that close to the original story, detail was good, and I enjoyed it, but not a classic.

Sobibor on Amazon Prime. Russian produced. Excellent remembrance of the brutality of the SS and how those prisoners broke through.

I watched the Great Escape over Christmas with my family. They loved it, and it had been a good many years since I last saw it, for it to be fresh and as brilliant as it ever was:

Donald Blackburn organized and lead a guerilla unit on Northern Luzon during WW II and authored the book Blackburn's Headhunters. He went on to command MACVSOG in 1965.
