I took these today, of a decorated WW2 Pillbox, close to Benson Village, Oxon. The airfield not too-far behind. Vera Lynn, two Tommies and a Spitfire.

Don't know why, every time I try to post, multiples of the same photograph come-out ? I posted Seven different one's !

I was in France last week and I sought out the Church in Méligny-le-Grand, inside was a memorial to the crew of a Lancaster that crashed just outside the village . The crash was documented in a book on Lancasters by John Nichol unfortunately the Church was locked so I left the wreath outside so glad I found it don’t think many people get to it it’s well off the beaten track

Dont want to make you sad but perhaps this might be a place to mention my granddaughter in the post #108
I know there are rules about placing pictures of children but on Friday she was rushed into hospital with a badly swollen face thought to be caused by an ear infection.
On Friday night my daughter was told that her baby of fifteen months has leukaemia. They are shut away in hospital due to Covid. Winnie is in Intensive Care.
We cant see them and have to await results of tests to find out what her future may hold.
Could I post a photo of her in all her glory, showing her new teeth, wearing her poppy with pride.

My heart bleeds for you. Sadly I can imagine what you are going through so I hope tests are good for you all. Sincere best wishes. xx

I was somewhat startled to see this thread pop up recently including my posting #113.

Purely by coincidence our granddaughter was completing five and a half months in The Children's Cancer Ward at Queens Medical Centre Nottingham.
During this time she has received over 600 procedures and been engaged in a trial of a new chemotherapy drug.
What you have to realise is that each individual patient needs treatment for their own strain of cancer.
Winnie was one of only 70 children in the UK with her strain of AML. The recovery rate to date has been extremely low.
She is now at home. Yesterday we were advised that she is now in Remission.
Whilst there is still a chance of things going against expectations and she will need constant checks for the rest of her life.
I think it appropriate to thank the Medical Staff and Cancer Researchers for an excellent job well done.
Anyone wishing to donate to Cancer Research, wherever you may be, it would not be money wasted.

Yesterday we drove through Cotswolds. I hoped to see some fields full of poppies but no luck on that .
Today , left the car at garage to get brakes sorted & walked to our mates for a cuppa.
These were growing in a nearby street.
Bit jealous as I've scattered thousands of poppy seeds around our garden but none are growing.
