    Hello Everyone.
I recieved my fathers records today after a 14 month wait (due to Covid). He passed away when I was 9 years old in 1977. I only know a few snippets of onfo past down by word of mouth and as a novice I'm really struggling to understand the terminology of the report. What I do know is that he was in Italy with the A & S H and had an awful shrapnel wound to his lower leg. He was in receipt of a war/army pension until his death.
I seem to have been left with more questions than answers. If anyone can decipher any of the following it would be immensely appreciated. Thanks.

Hello and welcome. If it is not too personal, could you please post the documents on the forum as we have members who can decipher them and explain to you exactly what they mean.

As he got to the Med after the Italian campaign had ended I assume he was injured in Greece fighting in their civil war .

You should have received a form B103 which is more detailed. Did you receive it?

    ITC is Infantry Training Centre

    See here explains X lists
    X lists (Service Records)

Blimey, they've blanked most of it out.

    It's all blanked out

Why have they done that ?

It looks like he was only awarded the 1939-45 war medal.

I don't know why it's all blanked out, someone may be able to help.

Yes Owen. I think that is most likely the case. Looks like that record is not downloadable. How can we find out the location or would I physically have to go to the archives. I think he may have sustained his injury in the POW camp if the sequence of records are to be believed.

You can either go to the archives & see them or ask some members on here to copy them for you for a fee.

    You could ask Gary Tankard , PsyWar.Org . I don't think Drew5233 is going for awhile .
There maybe other members who are going I can't remember all of them. :)

    Hi,

I’m sorry to see the statement of service papers have been “butchered” (redacted) so badly to make the content almost irrelevant - although it has been poorly done as a reference to a period of military detention is still visible on the first statement of services form.

I can’t understand how hiding behind Rehabilitation of Offenders Act can apply to a deceased person?

Agree Steve. Very disappointed to be honest. My dad passed away in 77.....is there anything I can do ?
