I give an answer to your question and I hope this will be the last time.:banghead:Photos from my personal collection and I am their copyright holder. My passion is photography WW-II:tank:
These photos were bought at various auctions from different people. They have no connection with each other. The photo was taken by different soldiers at different times and in different places.
It is for this reason that these photos have become a mystery to us today.

    raut,

I am not spoiling your thread, and I am sorry if you thought that I had.

You asked: " What is this building in the background and where is it?".

My suggestion involves looking at the complete landscape which shows what the modern video shows, excavation of raw material for cement production from hills ( what we would sometimes call downs ) and processing the natural material close to the site. The video I linked to was created by a French cement company. I also downloaded a French piece about the construction industry in Normandy, revisited the archives I referred to yesterday, and carried out other research. This did not help to locate the site.

My assumption was that your photograph had been taken by the same person who took the photograph of the cathedral in Normandy.

My reply was the most relevant I could find.

There will almost certainly be a railway line close to the "building" in your picture.

    Best wishes,

    John

  3. raut,

Thank you for answering my question in such a graceful manner. Don't worry, you won't get any more from me (not that I have suceeded in identifying any of "your" photos though), because I'm now out of this thread.

As a parting gift, I would however suggest changing the title of the thread to something closer to reality, like "I demand forum members to identify locations of an unknown number of WW2 ebay photos taken by unknown German soldiers in occupied Europe, and do not ask any question nor post any photo or videos nor expect me to do any research myself or I will fly into a tantrum"

Good luck in your (or rather others') research then!

Can you assume that the scene of action is Yugoslavia, Croatia and in the background some kind of Muslim structure? What could be an industrial zone in the mountains?

You asked your questions because you have not read this topic. If you had read it, you would have understood that I am not forcing anyone, but on the contrary I am asking for help.People who are interested in this help me and I am grateful to them from the bottom of my heart.I also conduct research in parallel, but for me it is very difficult, because I am not a European and have never been to any of the European countries.

I suggest some kind of brick works or cement works.
See the hills behind have been quarried for raw materials.
Where it is I have no idea.
edit: It reminds me of the rolling hills of Tunisia.

    Hello raut

I can see the gun. No problem.

But what do you mean "Calculation of the German 88-mm Flak cannon." ?

Are you suggesting we must calculate location by research of the gun unit?

Yes, that is obvious and why I asked for a clarification. Sadly, all it elicited was a sarcastic jibe. His English is good enough to try that tactic, not so?

Is the reference to the gun relevant to identifying the location or not?

Looking at the frame, the complex could be that of a China clay/kaolin factory. The stacks appear to be prewar and the complex could be anywhere in occupied Europe. Those occupied countries involved in kaolin mining can be ascertained. However, spoil heaps associated with kaolin mining are not apparent from the frame.

Looking at the terrain, the Limoges area of France famous for its porcelain derived from kaolin can be ruled out. The crop growing could be beans either for cattle feed or human consumption.

Yes you are right. My English is not very good.On this basis, I ask you to be more lenient towards me.
Besides, as I said, I've never been to Europe. My homeland Ukraine.I understand more about the occupation of the eastern regions of the USSR.
Regarding the photo, I warned that it is difficult and therefore it will not be easy to solve it.
The cannon is in the field where the sunflower grows.Maybe this will give a hint?

If you want people to be more lenient towards you because of your English, then YOU FIRST need to be more lenient towards them when they do not understand clearly your English.

Maybe it does. Maybe it does not. That is what I am asking you because you wrote about it. What do you think?

You also wrote about Yugoslavia, Croatia and mosque. Are they hints too? Do they have any relevance to solving the location?

Ah....... the sunflowers of the Russian Steppes.....personal accounts of the Germans when they invaded Russia was miles and miles of sunflowers as far as the eye could see.

I take it that sunflower seeds are still eaten as a snack by Ukrainians/Russians as the British would eat salted nuts.

I'm glad you mentionned that Harry.

When I first looked at the picture, it reminded me of the area around Slavyansk in the Donbas. Low lying hills stripped down even lower by chalk mining.

Hi Raut, I'm really not for deleting any posts from this thread. If I do, you'll only get asked some of the same questions again later on. Let's acknowledge this: the language barrier has been a notable consideration in some misunderstandings.

It'd be great if the thread could continue from now on for the discussion of locations, etc.

I agree with above ... please continue

It is certainly a factory with an nearby quarry. To me the picture could also have been taken somewhere in Italy/Sicily?
