you would fill this factual forum with ridiculous ideas and theories

We discuss stuff all the time about WW2
Not silly stuff about what if the Spitfire was a jet
What if hitler had been a women
    What if what if

    Nonsense

Load of contentious rubbish “what if”

As Pearl Harbor is a place name in the USA it has to be Pearl Harbor. But us Brits can say there is a harbour in Pearl Harbor.

This is said by someone who thinks about how AH could have won the war? That's pretty daring!

Well that went downhill fast . So fast in fact that I think the mantra of the forum can rest its case

    We did.

The participants would then drag their petty little squabbles out into the main forum and shit all over it too.

We even went so far as to require approval to create a thread there. Still acted like dicks. The bolsheviks and fascists just couldn't seem to get along.

I got to where if I found a thread with no recent comments in there, I would close it. We closed a huge number of them, then would not approve additional ones on the same subject. Ninety percent of them were "how Germany could have won." It got old.

Whenever I hear or read a ‘what if’ I’m reminded of that amusing aphorism, ‘If my auntie had balls she would be my uncle’. ‘Nuff said.

    Enough of the Sandwich Islands,

"What if" should be recognised what it really is......the enabling of history to morph into fiction.

And so, as the bluebird of disappointment mounts the blackbird of speculation, yet another piece of loose what-iffery falls beneath the raptor of fate.

I mean, we don't do 'what-ifs', but there's absolutely scope for speculation on what might or might not have happened had X or Y not occurred. That's part of historical discussion, isn't it?

    But...

The second you start talking absolute a-historical nonsense, it moves into another far more pointless realm.
Anything that tries to separate Hitlerian Nazism from... errr... Hitlerian Nazism... is cack of the first water.

'If Adolf had done X regarding his view of Jews'... I mean, FFS.
If Adolf and his pack of twats had thought differently regarding Jews (and, of course, the other long list of untermensch), then they really wouldn't be anything like what actually happened.
An absolute core of their raison d'etre was that revolting creed. The second anybody starts trying to relativise that, or present a scenario that doesn't include it, then they're either exceptionally dim, or deliberately trying to ameliorate the Nazi's legacy of twattery.
I once cackled my way through a thread where somebody suggested Iceland as an aircraft carrier (seriously), but an attempt to present any image of 1920s-40s Nazis without that 'Final Solution' thread running through their world-view is equally laughable.

    It's been fun.
I've laughed quite a lot, especially at the hurling of sprog-like abuse & attempted stance as some sort of free speech warrior. And telling us how to run a WW2 forum (We love that... Win friends & influence people. Demanding change in an established commoonitee is such a good look. ).
I've had so many messages externally saying 'have you seen this bollocks?' that I knew it was worth a shufti.

    Cheerio, mate.
Used to be proud of it being almost unheard of binning real humans here, but the last few months seem to have broken that record.

Is it lockdowns... or just the same old same old?
    Sigh.

And cheers to the chaps that have retained their sense of humour during this arse gravy.
Keep smiling, and maybe avoid their shrill level.

Swine! That was going to be the beginning of my closing comment.
A Portuguese member here used to use it a lot. I miss him.
