Hey guys! I am about to buy a Nazi Parachutist Badge; but I really can't tell if it is real or fake. Seller said it is original. Could you guys please help me? Thank you very much.
Better ask the experts there: Portal - Ordens-Forum. de - Sammlergemeinschaft Deutscher Auszeichnungen - SDA
It looks to have age Parachutist Badge (Nazi Germany) - Wikipedia Paratrooper Badge - Luftwaffe Badges - Third Reich Luftwaffe Awards & Badges - Germany - Europe THIRD REICH German Luftwaffe paratrooper Badges ¦ THIRDREICHMEDALS - https://www.liveauctioneers.com/en-gb/item/50435169_world-war-ii-german-luftwaffe-paratrooper-badge TD
The dies for all Nazi badges were not destroyed and were being used to create fakes from day 1 - I knew a British Army of Occupation officer who oversaw 'de-nazification' of a pressing factory...... Provenance is the only key. And be aware posting as a question on forums is a way for fakers to check if their work is acceptable so don't expect people to commit.
Make sense but I am living in Turkey and the price is quite cheap. Seller wants 1000 Turkish Liras (quite expensive for me) but if we convert it to GBP it is less then 100. I got exited but still I didn’t buy it. Seems good quality fake to me. But idk, this is why I asked.
You make me feel like I am a faker. I feel bad I was just trying to learn information. Never thought from that way
If it seems too good to be true then it’s probably best to leave it alone. Although I am not an expert on German military badges, my gut feeling is that your badge is fake. However, I will not go into why for the reason given by ceolredmonger at post #5.
I know, crazy price! He said he is giving away his stock. Like Mr. JDKR said, it seems it is too good to be true.
Seconded. Though other dedicated forums are available. Levels of approachability & strangeness may vary... There are entire books dedicated to 'spotting the fakes' in this area. They exist for a reason. Truly alarming level of fakery driven by high prices & short supply. A mate who collected a lot of very nice WW2 KM/Uboat stuff just doesn't bother any more as it's such a minefield & full time effort to keep up with the situation. Talk to people that are properly immersed in it & willing to discuss. Same seems to be happening to all WW2 militaria now. Sad, but probably inevitable.
At last my friend replied, he will send pics of the bage he has, but, also warned me there are fakes around which look real. I send the pics asap. Stefan.
Obviously the one that I was going to but is fake. Thank you again for your attention, you made me save my cash!
