Well, I've been looking for quite some time for information about this man but the results are not conclusive ....
    I really need your help!

Here is the only information I have at the moment :

    - Lieutenant Jack.R (London or Loudon ?)
    - In the Royal Engineer, precisely in Reconnaissance
    - He landed in June 1944 in Normandy.
    - He would have lived in Lanark, Lanarkshire, Scotland.

Any further information about him or his family would make me very happy !!

    Thank you in advance,

    RISKA

Wiki suggests that 'Jack' could be:
From: Jack (given name) - Wikipedia

Most of the first names get nowhere or too many to scroll through. I can find a James Loudon, Army Number 285459, who was commissioned 14/7/1943, as a Lieutenant into the Royal Corps of Signals (remaining with them in that rank till at least 1953). From: https://www.thegazette.co.uk/London/issue/36132/supplement/3643/data.pdf

There was a WW2 formation the Reconnaissance Corps and to my limited knowledge the Royal Engineers did not ave such a sub-unit or role. They did a booklet on the subject though.

Drawn a blank, perhaps others can help with the jigsaw pieces and get a better picture?

Difficult without a proper name. Might be worth posting the information you have.

What have you to suggest Royal Engineers, you say 'precisely' in Reconnaissance, do you mean Reconnaissance Corps they were not RE, they were later in the Royal Armoured Corps from 1/1/1944. What information have you got regarding his landing in Normandy?

Here is a letter written by himself in 1984, he lists the officers who were with him at the 13th ACG headquarters in Coulombs, Normandy. Any information on the other guys?

    I think it's "London"

I would suggest you provide as much information as you can about the unit he worked with - any other names? What was "13th ACG"?

    ACG = Airfield Construction Group
The 13th built a British airfield in Normandy.
It was commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Cecil Rankin.

I have other officers who were with him:

    Major Dick Reatchlons.
    Major Jock Wilson
    Capt John Harley
    Capt John Drinkwater ??

J.R. London corresponded a lot in Normandy until 1985.
He came to Normandy for the 40th anniversary of the Normandy Landings.

Reconnaissance in the context then sounds like a fellow who might go look for good places to build airfields or to make sure a site was safe? Sorry - me asking questions doesn't actually help your inquiry.

Yes it is, J.R. London has drawn up plans for the construction of 2 water pumping stations for aerodromes.
