Royals can't sing national anthem at Westminster Abbey Armistice Day service due to Covid-19 rules | Daily Mail Online I see that Covid-19 rules have now banned the Royal Family from singing the national anthem at this year's Armistice Day service at Westminster Abbey for fear of spreading the virus. Unbelievable times we are living in.
"Former Conservative leader Sir Iain Duncan-Smith said: 'If the Government and the British Legion limit Remembrance Sunday to the point that it becomes pointless, then we have to ask ourselves: what did they die for?'" One of the stupidest comments I've ever heard. Surely the silence is the most poignant part of Remembrance Day? Its purpose is to contemplate what happened and remember those who died. To state the beedin' obvious, no singing is or ever has been allowed during the silence. And Mr. DS seems to have totally missed the point that the reason for Covid restrictions is to stop more people from dying, especially the older generation, some of whom were involved in the world wars. As for the national anthem - it will be sung by a socially distanced choir. Choirs and singers performing the national anthem is nothing new.
It would be rather bad form for the world's largest feudal landowner to be imploring God "Thy choicest gifts in store, On me be pleased to pour" Nauseating, really. The British deserve a national anthem rather than a sycophantic royalist dirge.
Nothing wrong in working in insurance but might explain a lot A Point of View: Is it time for a new British national anthem?
