Having been to Cuba several times I can assert that they are the very best mechanics in the world. How else do you keep a fleet of 1950 U.S. vehicles on the road and in pristine condition, without any spares.
Mooching through that chap's videos, & they're excellent; from history of the nail to scraping away at a vice. Well-produced - HD, clear sound. Informed. I watch less & less 'normal' TV. Stuff like that is why. 2M+ views for the Russki stuff, 4M+ for the Cruiser - conventional programmers should look to their laurels... (And maybe acknowledge there's a market for properly nerdish documentary.)
Deary me. While the UK produced the frankly beautiful Mallard & the US were into their own futuristic Streamliners, 1930s France came up with... This. A Tat 230 800, apparently.
King Tiger of a different kind Starting in 1959, the Eicher Königstiger EM 300 was built as the third and, at that time, most powerful model within the successful Raubtier (Predator) series. The air-cooled three-cylinder in-line EDK-3 engine with direct injection and 2944 cm³ of the first series had an output of 35 hp. The transmission used in this version of the EM 300 was the ZF A210 with eight forward and four reverse gears. Characteristic for the first series of these tractors were the special brackets of the headlights, which were mounted in front of the front axle and below the hood. Another and for that time very innovative feature was the PTO shaft, which was available with different nominal speeds (540 or 1,000 rpm). source: Der Eicher Königstiger EM 300
Apologies for being late to the party but I would strongly promote this candidate as the design inspiration for the French loco…
