General Staff Officer Identification

Could anyone please ID the General Staff Officer on the left please.

Would anyone agree that the photo was taken after WW2? Both officers appear to have WW2 medals, several Stars?

 

Can't tell at this quality.

Suggest you take a high-def close-up of both officers individually.

Any data at all about location/occasion?

 

From the style of the women's clothes I would say post war
The civvie with glasses and a bow tie looks familiar

 

I was elsewhere this morning but on briefly looking at the frame,I thought that the subject did look like Robin Day....the characteristic dickie bow tie he wore.....the era probably late 1940s,early 1950s.

 

I wondered from the hair if it was that other bespectacled bow tie wearer of the time Bernard Levin

 

The lady's coat looks A line which would make it early 50s

 

Lady is wearing 1940's peep toe shoes. Ladies collars on coats are 1940's style, together with a wider sleeve. Man with dicky bow is wearing a 1940's trench coat with belt.

I have a 1940s style trench coat with belt I wear today. You can't date with certainty on that basis only by clothes that didn't exist until after a particular date

 

Thank goodness you don't wear the 1940's peep toe shoes too.That really would be a step to far.

The Staff Officer must be a Brigadier, as he has a CBE. Too senior a grade for ranks lower.

 

Is there a photo source? This looks like a formal show - County show or industrial promo.
Certainly post war.
