    High Andy,

I would like the June 1945 diary for WO 171/5263 6 Royal Scots Fusiliers 1945 Jan.-June and the whole of the WO 171/5264 6 Royal Scots Fusiliers 1945 July-Dec.

I can pay any which way you like and can even pre-pay as I read you had some problems.

my email is bbrl099@outlook.com. cheers - Tony

    Hi All

Whilst the National Archives is offering a reduced service of 4hrs a day, maximum 6 documents and only one visit a week from the 21st July this still doesn't make it financially viable for me to go with it being a 400 mile round trip in the car for me. I won't be able to visit until they reduce the restrictions a lot more than they currently have in place.

    Cheers
    Andy

I'm thinking of paying them a visit to discuss this.

    Hello,

I'm a complete newbie here, and pretty much as newbie at any sort of investigation.
My wife and I are researching her late father, who was in the 137th Field Regiment which served in the Far East and who were all taken prisoner by the Japanese.
We've found five very simple records in Forces War Records but I've come across (via this site) some links to document that seem to be held at Kew and seem not to be digitised.

Reading this page, it looks as if you might live near Kew and are able to attend in person and seek out such records. Am I right?
This link should show you the list of docs that I found:
Search results: 137th AND Field AND Regiment | The National Archives

Let me know if I'm on the right lines as to what you offer and also tell me anything else I need to know.

    Many thanks,

    Brian Smith

    Hi Andy,

My father, George Kenneth Lauder served with the AFPU, UNIT 5.
JIM on here found a couple of his images on the IWM website. I wondered if it would be worth me getting his unit diary if they had one?
    Happy to pay your rates!!

    Hi Lindsay

I've never copied a AFPU war diary before (assuming they have one) but I would imagine it would only contain basic info like where they were on a given day and may be list any photographic taskings?

Hmmm... I'll hang fire for now then as so much of that is in the public domain. Thanks though!

    Brian,
There are many on here that can help you with FEPOW info. I would suggest you start a new thread entitled something like "137th Field Regiment FEPOW". Give your father-in-law's name and if known his Service No. and we can start to dig around. Helpful if you could also let us know what info you already have to save repetition. In the meantime have you seen: https://www.far-eastern-heroes.org.uk/2nd_Lt_Robert_Hartley/index.htm

Just by way of an update. I was hoping to start visiting Kew again this year but considering the current situation I think it's realistic to expect that I won't be visiting again until 2021. That said I do have around 7,000 war diaries in my archive so it's always worth asking especially if the unit you are interested in is either Infantry or Armour related, even more so if its from the France and Flanders 1940 Campaign or the 1944 NW Europe Campaign.

Stay safe everyone and remember...Hands, Face and Space :D

Do you have any information on the 3rd Ulster searchlight Reg. RA, during the BEF campaign in France and the retreat to Dunkirk? I have a little info and I know my Dad got off at Bray Dunes on the 1st June 1940.

I believe that Drew can supply a copy of WO167/678.
If you know which battery he was with (9, 10; 11 or 12) then there are additional diaries, but not all complete through until June.
