D Moore has a photograph of the 12ht. Yorkshire . You don't happen to have a name list of members in photo?

    Unfortunately no I don't
    Just Lieutenant colonel Johnny Johnson
Sat behind dad on his right shoulder.
Someone pointed out that was Johnson who was killed leading the attack on Breville on the 12th june
    The big chap ...

My father always said the bravest man he had ever seen was a (his words) blue blood officer at Breville who with mortars dropping all over and machine gun fire in front marched the guys forward encouraging all to battle to the end I now know after research this was Major general Gale

Hello all! What a find this page is! My Grandfather, Alfred Henry Booth was part of 5th parachute brigade on d-day. As a staunch Yorkshireman, I believe he will have been 12th Yorkshire para btn but I am so far unable to confirm this. Would anyone have access to any records that could confirm this? I remember him talking about gliders rather than parachuting in.

My name is Lawrence. I am a researcher who is currently researching the Battle of Breville-les-Monts in June 1944, and specifically the British 12th (York’s) Parachute Battalion’s involvement within this, as well as also focusing on their Normandy campaign. As I am trying to help keep the history of this period alive alongside fellow 6th Airborne Division historian Neil Barber, and tell the story of as many of those men of 12th Parachute Battalion as I can do.

I am very keen to get in contact with any surviving members of the 12th Parachute Battalion who served in Normandy in 1944, and also speak with any relatives/family members of those veterans that served here with the 12th Battalion.

I’m incredibly keen to try and help keep the story of these men alive and tell as many of their individual accounts / experiences as I can do, as a way of paying my respects to this remarkable generation.

Hi my name is Andrew Smith, my father was Thomas Alfred Smith Royal Corps of Signals. He was attached to 12th Battalion. I have the 6th AB Divisional signals photo and the small k section photo. Hes holding the pigeon container in the pathe film ( he told me about that wheni was young. bit his finger )
I would love to find out more about this battalion, unlikely to find any mention of him i realist but its worth a try

    Thanks
