Some kind of cunning decoy vehicle making a 1937 combine harvesting and threshing machine look not a lot like two Matilda's welded together from 7,000 feet?

Not that... but it was built in 3 sections, the heaviest being 36 tons.

Sorry, should have mentioned... without the gun. The long carriage the gun would normally sit on.

    But it's probably not.

Adam, sorry for forgetting about the motorcycle question.

I think that it is an ex-French army Monet & Goyon, probably used by the Boche and then taken over by the Allies. It has been a bit modified along the way. I think the forks are a replacement and the lighting set has been removed along with the dynamo drive and cover, hence that funny looking chaincase and frame curve.

I have seen other pictures of captured motorcycles with the white star, something that was not normally applied to bikes in Commonwealth service. Apparently the Canadians were particularly averse to the "US" star and made a point of putting it on crooked.

I reckon the bike started out as one of these :-

I promise not to post any more obscure bikes !

:) Maybe we could do with a ' very obscure motorcycles' sub-thread. ;)

The prize goes to Mr Rodinu.

Naval Land equipment' or Nellie the Trench-digger. Envisioned in this 'smaller' style named 'The Private' for infantry (Seems 5 were actually built...) and a larger 'officer' model for vehicles to follow. The intention was to dig deep trenches (sub-ground speed: 1mph) towards the enemy trenches when the 'inevitable' first war style of warfare that was envisioned (by a very few 'old gang' oddballs) began. Incapable of digging any soil other than particular French Loams it took an entire company of engineers to assemble, 3 seperate loads and a fleet of lorries carrying just the track-plates.
In technical innovation, it was apparently a major achievement, but militarily, and in terms of usage of production capacity... oh deary me.
We all had our wunderwaffen to bear:rolleyes:

    Over to Za.

Well I'd quite like one of those Monet & Goyons and that launch style Bernadet sidecar looks like just the thing for taking the kids to school :) !

He's a sneaky man you know...
Reminiscent of those Spanish AAC's on Chevy bodies (as well as more 'obvious' BA's).

Been distracted by a surprising group of Irish Ford vehicles with that 'BA' shape, we could do an 'ersatz Russki armoured car thread'.

    However, I reckon that one's a Swedish Landsverk 181.?
1933 design based on MB chassis and also used by the Dutch & the Danes.

I'd go along with that conclusion.
