On the London underground network this mornings jam packed rush hour and pleased to report I did not see one person wearing a face mask at all. Good old Londoners and those that live in London.
We have some real simpletons in the world particularly in the UK causing all this panic The pathetic media and lily livered journalists need a kick up their gimp backsides for causing the panic that is setting in and WHO are not much better just have a cup of tea and get on with it whatever will be will be TAXI
I was just in Tesco’s and someone literally dropped a box of 12 bottles of Corona at the checkout. Do these people not listen to the news?
I see all the old chavs have been out panic buying clearing the shelves of pasta but strangely enough leaving the wholemeal pasta alone.
The irony is they are that thick that they don’t realise they will be causing the very “shortages” they’re panicking about.

I remember reading a very good account of the Black Death (hopefully a somewhat more serious matter). The politicos of the time however were just as clueless as today. One Bishop on hearing about the first cases in France announced that given the sort of things the French got up to it was no surprise that divine wrath was being visited on them but good clean living Englishmen need have no fear. He was one of the first in this country to go down with it - perhaps he hadn't kept his hands clean.
I'm not really sure masks that cover the mouth and nose would do a lot of good to protect the wearer, while the eyes are wide open to contact with aerosolized droplets. If, and that is a huge "if", people would adequately cover their mouths and nose when coughing and sneezing, then the spread could be lessened. I guess the main effect of a face mask is to prevent the spread by someone who is sick, and they should stay at home. Only problem is that oftentimes the symptoms are so mild that those who have don't realize they are ill.
Apparently some who have have no symptoms at all, not even mild ones, and are effective carriers. This is why cheap self testing kits are being developed.
At the supermarket this morning I decided that it might be a good idea to get in a few essential supplies before they run out. As there was no toilet paper, paracetamol, bread flour or pasta left on the shelves I had to try and anticipate would the next shortage might be. After thinking for a few minutes I went to the condiment and pickles aisle and filled my trolley with every available packet of OXO cubes, both beef and vegetable varieties and every similar product in the Knorr and Tesco's own brand range. When I got to the checkout the woman on the till looked at me very quizzically and said, "I am sorry sir but I cannot let you have all those items as you are clearly panic buying. I thought that would try and bluff it out and told her that I wasn't. She said, "well with your trolley full to the brim with OXO cubes it clearly looks as you are panic buying". I again told that I wasn't panic buying to which she answered, "if you are not panic buying what are you doing? So I told her, I am stockpiling. I'll get my coat.
