Be interesting to see what he died form on the death cert TD
TD he may be entitled to medals as showing as still serving on the 1939 register, do we know when this was completed?
The 1939 Register was taken on 29 September 1939. The information was used to produce identity cards and, once rationing was introduced in January 1940, to issue ration books. TD Source: 1939 Register - The National Archives

If you need the documents just send me a pm with your email address. Regarding WW2 medals, there appears to be no file for him so his next of kin will need to prove his entitlement - If you need to know the process let me know? You will need proof of his service so you should obtain his CRS 10, this file only records information from January 1941 but crew agreements from the first ship shown in that file should give the detail to get the ships list back to 1939. His CRS 10 should be held at TNA in piece BT 382/160. When you have the list of ships for medal entitlement then you need to get the movement cards also from TNA but you can obtain them online. The CRS 10 will need to be obtained by visit to Kew or via a researcher. You should firstly contact the RSS in Cardiff to be 100% sure that they do not have his medal file. Regards Hugh
