    Hi,

Long shot but would anyone have a copy of the 5th Bn Notts and Derby Sherwood Foresters war diaries or know where I can get a copy. I know I can go to KEW but would like to save myself the trip.
    regards
    Danny

  4. Hello, just to let you know I`m new to this forum so if someone could please help with the following.
My brothers and I are looking for any information - war diaries in regards to the 2nd/5th Btn Sherwood foresters during the 2nd world war. My Father served in North Africa, Italy, Austria, Greece & Yugoslavia being wounded on 3 occasions. Earnest (Earnie) Smith 4986529 "D"coy Police & later carriers. We have tried to get information to the war diaries but seem to be coming up against a brick wall from Chilwell Museum.

    thanks Adrian.

I am in Kew next week if you want me to copy them for 10p a page. I would just need to know what months and years.

  6. Hi Gary, thanks for your quick reply I have spoken with my elder brother who has my fathers records? We know he embarked the UK 23/12/1943 and entered the theatre of war in 1943 being wounded on the 03/01/1943.
We have looked for information regarding his time in Greece and then Yugoslavia ( doing what, we have no idea ). His time spent in Austria was in the police (regimental we assume)

  7. Conntinuation from previous reply - As he said some years ago he was attached to hunt down the "SS" and collaborators. Not knowing any specific dates we can only assume we would have to have all the diary pages that cover the dates from embarkation 23/12/1943 to his return to the UK on or around 15/12/1945, this in turn could be a large collection of days / dates. Would you have any idea of how many pages this may be ?
