I think someone needs to collate the description and images relating to numbers 5 & 6 - don t seem to match TD
Excellent frames but as TD states a number of them require the captions to be matched to the individual photographs. To the point coverage of the US Marines taking these small island "fortresses" in the Pacific which accounted for many US casualties with the JIA resisting to the last man. Also some good detailed background to the frames.
May need to spell check as well, grammar too #42 Survivors of USS Indianapolis en route to hospital after being rescued in August 1945. After the sailor’s ship was sank by Japanese tornadoes, sharks swarmed the survivors in the wreckage. TD
I also like the work of Joshua Barrett who trades as ‘Painting the past’. I'm really annoyed. Someone posted the B&W photo of that in the Gallery years ago. I posted some info in it & similar views. Can I find it now ? Can I hell.
Owen, Joshua had misstated IWM's reference on Facebook which probably hasn't helped! I've added a link on post #7 and corrected the reference.

Why are the pictures in the original article listed as 'colorized'.* Most are original, if occasionally processed, colour images. (Maybe from the Life collection. Bells ringing.) *Rhetorical question. People have given up checking, and the nomenclature inevitably blurs as the colourising craze rolls on.
