Hello, i found this one in my grandfather garage, its turning, but a little Heavy turning. Is this collectable? if so? does it have a value? should i donate it to a lokal museum? Any help is appreciated.
Someone just told me that he have seen some in norway og for 1000,- to 4000,- nok. Im not keeping it, so eather i donate it to a lokal museum or sell it if someone collekt this?
Nice find and nice of you to donate it. If it was mine I'd take it apart for cleaning and oiling but that's just me. Many would scream if I did that and say that you have to leave it original.
Something like that was installed in bunkers on the Atlantic Wall (didn't know that is what they were called) but were usually driven by an electric motor with a hand crank for emergencies, so you may only have part of the assembly. An anti gas measure. The basic design is late WW1. Attended a lecture last year on the Channel Islands defences in which they were mentioned. Someone who is restoring an Atlantic Wall bunker might like it.
Look at the bunker nicknamed the Odeon, on Alderney. Click on the middle picture. The round hole is where one of these devices was installed (it had three) Visit The Odeon on your trip to Alderney or United Kingdom • Inspirock
