I tried the second file, Sentinels of the North-East, located in Books/Indian Subcontinent. I did have to click on it a few times, but it did download. Cheers Maureen
Maureen, Thanks for the recents links on the Assam Rifles, J&K Rifles and the 10th Gurkha Rifles. We all appreciate your updates and efforts
Great links - thanks Maureen. The Assam Rifles book is interesting because there is a good level of detail on them and their role with V Force. There do not seem to be any War Diaries for the Assam Rifles at Kew but the level of detail suggests that good original material exists somewhere. In the Regimental Archives in India probably? The download of this book has disappeared: "1957 Bugle and Kukri–story of the 10th Princess Mary’s Own Gurkha Rifles by Mullaly"Does anyone have a copy they saved when it existed?
10 GR - or their association - have been relatively prolific publishers so I'd suspect they're protecting their IP.
So. we're pretty much out of luck then. eh? Ah well, c'est la vie...Thank you though, Maureen...greatly appreciated!
I downloaded a copy of the the 1957 Bugle and Kukri - Story of the 10th Princess Mary's Own Gurkha Rifles by Mullaly. If anyone is interested, start a conversation and I will provide you with a download link.
I'm interested in all three links that Maureen provided, usually Pahar is quite reliable but it is odd that none of the links work.
Regarding 1957 Bugle and Kukri–story of the 10th Princess Mary’s Own Gurkha Rifles by Mullaly s Using the link 1957 Bugle and Kukri–story of the 10th Princess Mary’s Own Gurkha Rifles by Mullaly s I can see a download button on the page. I clicked on that and the download started (although I then terminated it) Sometimes the download button does not display (do not know why it is intermittent) and then you need to go to the Books section at the top of the Pahar webpage and download it from there. Perhaps if you are still unable to download, there is a problem with your internet speed, (or maybe the website is busy? but I don't technically know about this) and you need to try another time the day. I know for another Indian website, some years ago it was commented that very early UK time was best for downloading.
Two online volumes from Central Secretariat Library (CSL) [Delhi] Digital Repository. This library is one of the oldest libraries of the Government of India. I haven't looked at the contents of either, so can't comment on the quality of the digitisation, including images. The History of the 3rd Battalion 7th Rajput Regiment - Duke of Connaught's Own by H. G. Rawlinson 1941. A description said that it covers the history to 1940 http://cslrepository.nvli.in//handle/123456789/6258 India’s Army by Major D. Jackson 1940 Contains a "potted history" of every Regiment & Corps (including the auxiliary & princely state forces). Central Secretariat Library (CSL): India's army There are supposed to be a number of images, but whether they are included, or the possible quality, I do not know Cheers Maureen
