    Hello to this fantastic resource.
I am researching my fathers war history and hope to post a few questions, and maybe some answers too if possible. My father Pte 6212054 Leslie Jennison served in the 2nd / 7th Battalion of the Middlesex Regiment B Company.
Ive sent for his war record and when received I am sure there will be a load of questions from me so thanks in advance. The only thing I know so far is that he was wounded by gunfire on 16th February 1943 in Italy near Anzio.

    Welcome aboard the... err... board.

You may be in luck on two counts:

    1) The Middlesex Regiment regimemtal journals have recently gone online here: Middlesex Regiment Journals

    2) One member here has some expertise on the Middlesex at Anzio. I've messaged him to alert him to this thread. If he doesn't come along, I think I have copies of the 2/7th War Diaries from him.

Crikey that was quick. Many thanks, I will have a look at those journals. Just an aside, any idea long it takes to get a reply from MOD when requesting an individuals war records?

I received both of my grandfathers' records in six weeks, but waits of six months or more aren't unheard of around the time of anniversaries, commemorations or good war film releases.

    Good luck.

What kind of record is that and where can it be found on FMP?

I applied for my grandad’s records on 31 October last and I have just seen that my cheque for the fee has today been presented on my account. I understand from previous posts on here that this is a very good sign that his records will be with me imminently.

Funnily enough, I received an email from Glasgow very recently, 10 Jan, saying there was potentially a delay of up to six months due to the exceptionally high demand they are currently experiencing but, joy of joys, my cheque has now been paid in!

As you can tell from comparing Charley’s experience with mine, for example, the waiting time is not set in stone, plus mine may also have been delayed a little bit more as I had not originally applied using the next of kin form since I didn’t want to trouble my aunt. However, a very helpful young lady in Glasgow explained to me in early December that I would get much more information if I switched to a next of kin form and so I did just that.

So for me personally, allowing also for that little interruption, it will be about four months.

Welcome to the forum by the way and the best of luck with your research. You are among very friendly and helpful experts in so many fields here :D

    Hi John,

It would of been 16th Feb 1944. Also, It would of been 'B' Sp Gr ( Support Group). Do you happen to have any Christmas cards in your collection that your Dad may have sent home? It may give a answer to which platoon he was in? I'm on my phone at the moment.

I did find out which platoon my Grandfather was in whilst being in the Anzio campaign.

It was not stated on his service records. Nice to here from a fellow Diehard. Please post a photo of your Old-man if you have one?

I can't remember how long i waited for my Grandfather's records exactly.. May be six months or so? I know that they made rather interesting reading indeed.

The best 30 sheets that i have ever spent.

I did try to find out why he was sentenced to (120) days in the glass house. They let him out after being a nice chap after 80 days.
.:seeno:.Rather warm in Palestine in the summer of 45. Edit: what i should of mentioned was that it was stated what he got 120 days for. I could not get hold of the papers for the F.G.C.M. I do believe they are hard to find.

Thank you Stuart. Every bit of information helps. I will try to find a photo of my dad. The very few I have arent in very good condition. Unfortunately he died in 1960. I am also very new to this Forum malarkey so on several steep learning curves at the moment.
