My mum seems to remember her dad mentioning being a prisoner of war, but have his service records and have searched online and have found no record of it at all. Is it possible that he was and there are no records of it, or is it more likely that she is remembering the conversation wrong?
Hello Carla, What was your grandfather's name, regiment and number? I have lists of British and Commonwealth prisoners registered as being held in Italy dated August 1943, and one register for Germany/ German occupied territories dated 1 September 1944. If you post the above information I will look for him for you, Regards, Vitellino.

Carla - Your Frederick Rush T202197 is not listed on the Casualty Lists as a POW. He is however being shown as wounded in the Middle East in April 1941, but on this occasion his initials are shown as T
Yes we've noticed the typo on the records. Would it have been a serious injury to be on the list? According to his records he was admitted to hospital 2 may-28 June 41, and quite a few more long visits after that. I wonder if the first was more serious as its the only one that's showing up on the records.
Hello Carla, I have checked both registers and you grandfather does not appear on either. WO 392/21 Italian Register August 1943 WO 392 1 German Register September 1944 Regards, Vitellino

His time in hospital could be more to do with disease rather than a physical injury. Family stories can sometimes tell you the answer TD
