There's majority of them there possibly not in date order
But you should be able to work through them
    Any input greatly received

    Hi,

Thanks for posting the records - there are a multitude of duplicate posts that you could do with deleting to tidy it all up to make it easier for members to navigate as it is very difficult to follow the chronology of the posted documents.

I’m sure you’ve noticed this anomaly yourself but his handwritten contention that he dropped into Normandy on 6th June 1944 isn’t supported by the entry in his records that he was posted to 12 Para in NWE 8th August 1944 - presumably as a reinforcement - and returned to U.K. 9th September 1944?

    Thanks for that
    Yes the handwritten bit under
In france came out through Dunkirk on 1st of june .
Perhaps he wasn't there then either.
I have no reason to doubt his contents.
Why would he be sent to airborne forces holding unit and not used. ???

Doesn't actually say he was in Dunkirk either . 20191118_113342.jpg

If you look in the bottom right hand corner of one of the several excerpts of his statement of service form (the same big form as the portion you’ve posted) that you posted 8.54pm on Friday evening you’ll see a variety of overseas postings are listed - BEF, NWE & India.

    Yes seen them
BEF not sure what it stand for
    As NWE.
    IF you can enlighten me
    Much appreciated.
But the entries he made in his book
    Eg married and date correct
    Evacuated from Dunkirk correct
    In India 1945 correct
He must have known if he was at d-day or not.
Some things are never set in stone
Front cover for example SAS regt.
Also an entry 5.4.44 2 SAS
    ANY Idea ?
The photos on para data dated
Dad sat crossed legged on right
Feb 1944 with dad on them ? 20191118_134304.jpg

Wouldn't the Depot need trained parachutists to send as replacements to the units of 6th Airborne Division that landed in Normandy? That would fit quite well with the disembarked in NW Europe in early Aug returning with the Bn back to UK in early Sep 44.

    Regards

    Tom

Can’t help with your other queries other than...

BEF = British Expeditionary Force - the personnel sent to France 1939/40 that was subsequently evacuated via Dunkirk and other ports.

NWE = North West Europe (Expeditionary Force) sometimes shown in records as BLA = British Liberation Army. Personnel fighting from Normandy to Germany through 1944/45.

I’d agree with you Tom. The unit would’ve been coming to the end of their training for the D Day operation and it would’ve likely been less than ideal to absorb new personnel unversed in the forthcoming deployment.

More likely newly trained men wouldv’e gone into the reinforcement pool to replace the expected Normandy battle casualties.

Just my opinion as I know mistakes can be made on service records.
