I have snow. The first real snow this year. Large cotton wool ball snow flakes drifting past the window in a traditional Christmas card scene. Mike
[QUOTE="Trux] I have snow. Mike Is that just you Mike, or does the rest of the village have snow? (sorry couldn't resist) We just have heavy rain here. Lesley
No snow here, just tornadoes. One last Sunday killed 23 people about 60 miles from here and another about a month ago destroyed part of my little town, completely obliterating a 170 year old church. There was nothing left but scattered piles of wood. It heavily damaging another almost as old, toppling the steeple and lifting the roof off. A large number of public and private buildings were damaged or destroyed, including the occupied police station. We were amazed no one was killed. Had it been 24 hours later on Sunday... The people killed last weekend were mostly caught by surprise in their homes and the homes were absolutely devastated. We saw aerial photos of several houses blown completely off the foundation mostly intact and thrown 150 feet into the woods, where they disintegrated. A second tornado spawned 30 minutes later and followed the path of the first. First responders were caught out in the open, but thankfully they were able to take cover and avoid that smaller, weaker storm. There were no other deaths or injuries from the second twister. More potentially possible today, although the weatherman says less likely and probably to the north of us.
We still have snow, in fact we are getting more just now. Now - 1 deg C and 39 cm snow. But forecasts promise warmer weather from now on, plus degrees C and rain, so maybe only last breath of this winter.
Hello this winter is stubborn, as they usually are, after some days of above zero temperatus and some rain the depth of snow dropped to 26 cm but today it snowed some 7 cm (almost 3 in) more snow so we had some 33 cm of snow in late afternoon but now it is raining again.
We have had a warmer period even if during a couple nights temperature dropped under 0 deg C. Last night the temperature was -3 deg C. Now + 2.5 deg. 19 cm of snow left but there was still light snowing around noon. But time to be ready for the cycling season and carry the bicycle from garden shed to front yard. But weather gods didn’t like that or thought that it was premature so they sent a shower of hail to cool a bit the too eager cyclist.
The waterlevel of the Rhine at Arnhem a few weeks ago: ... after a few weeks of rain the water has risen to a normal level for this time of the year: John Frostbridge at Arnhem: Waterbikes:
It happened again, I took a picture to show that summer is near as we changed to summertime, snow almost gone. But 15 minuted later it began rain sleet and hail. Maybe it is better to stop taking summer is coming photos.
We got a bit of snow this weekend too I cycled to work two days last week because the roads were clear and it was warm enough...
We got the first snowfall of this autumn earlier today. Earth is still too warm to snow to stay here in the most Southern part of Finland, temp now +1 deg C.
These folks expected 75F weather on their wedding day and got a sneauxstorm instead. Made for great pics though. What's the odds on that happening? Couple Expected It to Be Sunny and 75 on Wedding Day — They Got a Snowstorm Instead
Promized blizard on Monday did not arrive, it stayed over Gulf of Finland but last night there was minial snowing. More odd is that the Vantaa river is partly covered by thin ice at this stage of year. What, no swimmers at our beach
That'd still be enough for our media to declare a SNOWMAGEDDON national emergency. We are very shit/over-excitable at snow. Never fails to make me laugh...
I was visiting Jersey on business one December back in the early 80s. (The island was mainly shut and there were only four guests in the hotel) One night it snowed, unusual for Jersey and there was about a quarter of an inch of snow on the roads in the morning. The police issued a warning suggesting that no body travel unless it was an absolute emergency and the entire island closed down for the day.
