Hi to all, does anyone still have the Microsoft Ice app? I lost mine a while back whilst doing something stupid on my laptop. It was a brilliant app for stitching images together.. I've tried others, but they are has much use has a bag of spanners. It would be bliss if anyone can tell me how to get it back? Or do some on my behalf. Thanks, Stu.
They re-launched the MS toys recently. ICE remains great. Download here: Image Composite Editor - Microsoft Research
Adam, thanks for that. I did download that but I could not get head around it. Whats with the black border? The original MS toy was so simple to use & did not have a border. I need one of chaps who i work with to show me how it works. Stu.
I'd also thought the app was long gone, thanks von Poop! Incidentally if anyone is looking for a full on 'Photoshop' style editor, I'd commend one called Affinity Photo produced by a British company. I've found that without any complex fiddling, it does better stiches than Photoshop and no subscriptions.
For photo-stitching take a look at Hugin. Its free, open source and cross-platform (i.e. Linux, OS-X, Windows): Hugin - Panorama photo stitcher For photo editing, my choice is Gimp, which again is free and cross-platform: GIMP - GNU Image Manipulation Program
Steve, thanks for this. I have had a quick try of the one that Adam has suggested & its not much use in my eyes.. It could be me of course? Its not a patch on the original Microsoft Ice in my eyes. I stitched a map that is near on 22 inch square without a problem. I do have one which is rather slow when it comes to stitching images & then appears a black border which is FRUSTRATING to say the least. I'm lost has to the black border. Regards, Stu.
