I haven't complained and wasn't meant to come across as I am. I was checking that they had received it due to how fast it was 6 mo ths ago. I don't mind waiting or resending if it's lost

I got a email reply the other day. My application sent just before mothers day is still being processed and they currently have a back log but they are processing it.

Just in case anyone is wondering where theres is.

My grandads took 1 month from start to finish in November. They must of had a lot of interest this year.

My two sets came one day after the other in late August. Sent off for them in January and March respectively. Now I've got to go again for another of my great uncles service records!!

    Hi,

Sent off for two sets of service records in February 2019...... one for great uncle, other for grandad.

Both £30 cheques cashed on same day (end May)....... received great uncles records early July but still haven't received anything for grandad.

    1. How long should I wait before chasing
    2. How should I chase.... phone / email etc?

    Ta

    Hi,
I have applied for the military records of an uncle who died in WW2, how long does it take to get the records from the mod? Many thanks Steve

Varies as to how busy they are. Some take a few weeks some a few months. Unfortunately no way of telling you just have to be patient and wait for the day.

They will, I understand, only cash the cheque when they have found the records and copied them - so keep an eye on your bank account - or ask whoevers bank account you have used to keep an eye out for that cheque being cashed

They cashed my cheque late January, my having applied in late October. I got rather excited when I saw the cheque go through, although excitement is quite dangerous at my age.

No records received yet, sadly, and when I queried this a few days ago they told me that as they only sent their formal acknowledgement email to me in January, I may well have to wait until June for receipt. They said they are currently still working on the records of those applications that they acknowledged in November.

Effectively, therefore, although they received my form in November, it is, according to what I was told, the date they sent their acknowledgment out, in my case January, that determines the start of the “up to six months” countdown.

I know from your recent posts that you received yours in under four weeks, TD, so it all appears quite random to me, but perhaps as mine is a nok request it takes longer? I don’t know, of course, if your request was nok.

Hey ho, they’re very busy of course, I shall just have to wait, not much more I can do. At least I know they’ve got my request and, as Mr Harvey said, thank goodness they’re not naval records I’ve asked for.
