BBC - WW2 People's War - Memories of World War II (Part 1) was then posted to No. 1 Training Battalion Royal Engineers at Clitheroe in Lancashire, where we were instructed in the building of bridges on land and pontoon bridges over rivers, lifting mines, laying minefields, etc., - all part of the sappers' job BBC - WW2 People's War - John Brown's extended war I joined up in 1942 for the duration of the emergency and reported to Clitheroe, Lancashire in Low Moor Mill an old stone cotton mill where we slept 200 to a room. A copy of his death certificate may help to show if it was a natural death [a heart attack or similar whilst on the range] or and actual training accident - details in post 3 TD
