My mind has just been blown.

Of course it doesn't have a WW2 section. This is the off-topic section of Mumsnet and I claim my £5 !

A serious comment if I may.

I'm guessing that the OP was simply saying that it would be nice to have a D Day section within the overall Forum. Good point except:
D Day is a technical term for the Day on which the Operation starts so, if he means the Normandy D Day (in practice there were surely dozens of D Days during WW2) that means anything that happened on 6th June 1944 in NWE. That consequently excludes anything on 5th June or prior to 5th June and anything on or after 7th June.
The term D Day has become conflated with Normandy in most peoples minds and hence the widely abused use of the term D Day.
To have a SubForum dedicated to just one day would therefore be illogical and unworkable.
Conclusion....use the Forum Search function to find what you want and New Posts or Recent Posts to keep an eye out for topics of interest.

I would not want Kip to be put off contributing to the Forum especially as my father embarked from Southampton in early June 1944 in order to be parked up in his LST in the Solent and from where they set sail for Normandy on 5th June 1944. That means that anything that happened in Southampton on 'D Day' is of only passing interest but anything in the week or so prior to that would be of massive personal interest especially any film or photos taken of LSTs parked up in Southampton. Even the King paid them a visit....

    You're right.

He came on a bit strong with the predictable backlash. I'd give him another shot if he'd like a take two.

Certainly, and welcome to the Forum Kip, if you still feel like it. Now and then a little bit cynical, but all kind hearted and like you very much interested in all that happened during WW2, including D-Day to VE-Day.

Like Stolpi I use the Search thingy to find my own material. Quicker and easier than searching my own PC. I always go straight to Recent Posts so topic/section headings are not used much.

I never go to the topic/section headings in order to find stuff: that's what I use the Search facility for...and it's brilliant especially for locating my own threads and posts. I ALWAYS check New Posts and Recent Posts when I visit the site because that's a catchall and you never know what could crop up. The only time I go to any particular section is to start a new thread.

Anyway, I sincerely hope kip returns: he's not signed on since his initial posts yesterday.

I know tags are cool, but I can't even see a LINK to the tags when you are viewing the forum's "Home". That really does not help anyone new to the forum.

A quick search of Facebook confirms that Kip (I won't mention his surname on here - not appropriate - perceived privacy and all that) is a frequent poster on said Facebook. I've found his Facebook posts relating to Southampton history actually quite interesting so I hope he returns here.
