Hi, New to forum. Is there no thread/block specifically dedicated to D-Day or 1944? Kip

No, but there are some stunning details against individuals or units. What aspects interest you?

Aha! WW2 Southampton, having seen you hanging on the Portsmouth thread!

I have noticed that there is a tendency to focus on 1940. I feel the forum should have a section on 1944 or D-Day as well. If you look at my introduction you will see the latest video I have posted on my YouTUBE Channel called Southampton on D-Day featuring original film footage.

That's because a group of members were posting so much on that campaign we gave them their own area to play in.

I think there needs to be a section devoted to 1944 called D-Day which includes sub-sections.

If I remember correctly we had a new member awhile ago demanding a forum for the Royal Marines . We created one & he buggered off.

If the membership feel the need for a D-Day specific forum & there is enough content to fill it I'm sure von Poop will create one.

There were quite a few other things happening in 1944--many of them beyond Normandy.

If we were to start dividing up, we might as well have a section devoted to each year of the war---not that I'm suggesting that.

I think there is a need and now put it forward as a suggestion.

I feel as the replies illustrate the need for such a section.

Personally I would say the opposite - but each has their own opinion

As a new member I guess I have fresh eyes. I have seen this pattern before with a focus on the Blitz and 1940 rather than D-Day and 1944 which to my mind gives an unbalanced view.

What about the various D-Days in Italy and Burma, the forgotten ones. We should not forget them either.

We have just had the 75 year commemoration event because D-Day was a significant event in WW2, so why is there no section on the forum?

Can I please have a forum on each unit down to platoon level?

In all seriousness, the study of Normandy and NWE (there is more to 1944 than just 6 June) etc is very, very well covered here and there are simply thousands of threads.

    It's really, really not warranted.

Once again the above posts illustrate the need for such a section.

Can I ask the question - is it your intent to post the question I have copied below into every thread on this site - if so I will just not visit the forum for a couple of weeks until you have finished
