On Wednesday & Thursday I binge watched a 6 part drama called The Saboteurs. I watched the series on DVD but originally I think it was shown on Channel 4 so it might still be on the All 4 iPlayer but I haven't checked.

Over the six episodes it tells the true story of the battle for heavy water in Norway and tells the story from all sides: the Norwegian Hydro Plant, Heisenberg & the German nuclear programme and SOE & the Norwegian section.
I found it very watchable and it was good to see that all nationalities spoke their own language with sub-titles where required and all operations against Hydro and the heavy water were covered from the failed to the successful as well as the various intrigues.
If you enjoyed Max Manus Man of War then you will really enjoy this series.

World War 2 in Colour. Yeah I know, y'all spell it differently than we do, but it was a British production, and the narrator had a cool (but clearly understandable) accent, so it just added to my fascination with it. Watched several episodes, got my WW2 fix satisfied for awhile.

I watched a Youtube video yesterday from the Tank Museum at Bovington regarding Tiger 131, it was quite interesting and as an update it clarified how the tank came to be disabled. It was mentioned that the Tiger had featured in a movie called "Fury", the actual title was a bit longer, but I forget it now. Released in 2014 and it was very forgettable...bloody awful actually.

Just watched the film 'The 12th Man' which is currently listed on Netflix. It tells the true story of a Norwegian survivor of a naval sabotage mission that is compromised and follows his story of escape and evasion in real cat & mouse fashion as people help him try and reach the Swedish border. Well worth a watch - the frostbitten toes scene will have you wincing!

David Howarths book ‘We die Alone’ is great so I’m glad there’s a film. I was unaware of this film so I’m adding it to my watchlist!

    Darby's Rangers (1958) - IMDb

A tad melodramatic in some places but still really good. Great cast.

I just learned that James Garner received two Purple Hearts in Korea.

Managed to watch all 6 episodes of the latest Netflix offering Charite At War which revolves around the Berlin hospital of that name during WW-2. It's not a bad series and the characters existed in real life, at least the main ones did, and the story lines running throughout the 6 episodes include the euthanasia programme and the resistance plotting against Hitler as well as the arrival of the Russians in 1945.

    Ship Ahoy (1942) - IMDb

    Pretty good comedy.

From IMDB: Trivia - The title was changed from "I'll Take Manila" to "Ship Ahoy" because the Philippines had already fallen to the Japanese in the war. The ship destination was changed from Manila to Puerto Rico, and the song "I'll Take Manila" was changed to "I'll Take Tallulah".

Battle of Britain (1969) again for the millionth time and I still love it. I felt compelled to watch it as a fellow RAF SNCO informed me he hadn't seen it or The Dambusters. I was appalled and made him watch them both!
