4015488 Sgt Eugene Thomas Tonks, 1/King's Regiment (Liverpool), formerly South Staffordshire Regiment. Wounded 27th March 1944
Cheers Steve, thought either you or some other member with Chindits interest would take note, I do have the pic of the Christmas card mentioned in article but I could not load pic via my phone as it was too big.
Thanks Jason. If there is anyway you can get the Christmas card image up or emailed over, that would be great.
Yours is one of the several types of Chindit Airgraph that I have seen. Here is another example of the same one. I have blocked out the details as I do not own the original image.
I've seen the first one before Jason, but not the second. Would there be any chance that I could use the image in one of the forthcoming Chindit Society newsletters? The boys would love to see it. Tonks is very much a Chindit related name. Pte. John Tonks was a casualty on Operation Longcloth, perishing in Rangoon Jail and being buried at Rangoon War Cemetery after the hostilities had ceased.
Hi Steve, you mean you have seen text but not pic? And as I mentioned it’s from a copy of the Armourer magazine issue 80 March/April 2007. Fill you boots mate but I’m wondering if you are referring to High wood 2nd image?
Steve, if you mean the unused airgraph, you are welcome to use it. I will ping a clearer copy over to you. Simon
