Extracts from editions past. Some will make you smile, some will make you cry. Always remember, never forget.
Thanks Jim, this is fantastic. Love the bit about my grandfather! Any chance you could email the originals to admin@9thparabattalion.com? Would love to put some snippets on the Reunion Club history page.
Hello Alex, the covers and pages are scans from some of the editions of Pegasus that I have. I've posted them up today by way of seeing that if the interest is there I will readily scan them in their entirety and post them up here. I hope folks agree that they deserve to be seen. Making the time to do the necessary is the only stumbling block at present, but I will hopefully have complete versions up on this thread within the next few weeks.
Readily! As per my response to Alex1975uk above, as soon as I have complete editions scanned I'll post them up here and will happily e-mail them to you too (going forward that may have to be in pdf format though, hope that will suffice).
Sounds good to me, how many editions do you have? I find it fascinating seeing the requests to get in touch section, wonder how many did get back in touch with old comrades. Alex.
Thank you, you are too kind, but credit is not necessary for me. Helping to keep alive the names that appear within the pages of Pegasus is reward enough, especially your grandfather's and his contempories of that great generation. I guess (hope!) the attached has pride of place with you (as does the edition I am custodian of has with me)
Funnily enough I've never had a copy until this afternoon, when I was going through some of my father's things and was given his old copy (that was in turn given to him by his father, Terence Otway). So yes, now I have it!
I am privileged to have sixteen of the early Pegasus journals, dating from April 1946 (Volume I Number 1) to June 1950 (Volume V Number 2) I hope that more of the get-in-touch requests succeeded than were unsuccessful too.
Great stuff. The edition I have is the Imperial War Museum 1990 reprint that was made possible by your grandfather as part of the 50th Anniversary of the formation of British Airborne Forces (it is most definitely a prized possesion)
Dave, thanks very much for bringing this to my attention, it is very much appreciated, and I do not want to tread on anyone's toes so to speak ( given that the funds the Paradata website raise would be put back in to it's upkeep and the PRA). I'll initially keep any parts I post up here to the odd page or two that may be of special interest to members of this forum. Again, thanks for letting me know.
Please see the info from Dave above, in light of which I won't be posting any complete issues of the Pegasus Journal that I own here out of respect to Paradata. Profuse apologies for any disappointment caused.
