So it begins. Canada Remembers launched a cross-country train trip today to commemorate the 75th anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy. The ceremony featured the official poster unveiling and a train departure ceremony in Vancouver. The train will visit 7 cities before it arrives in Halifax on June 3rd. A pair of combat boots, symbol of the many Canadians who took a similar journey during the Second World War was placed on The Canadian to begin a train voyage to Halifax, Nova Scotia, where so many troops departed for Europe 75 years ago. The Government of Canada will host a signature event at the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site. This location represents the end of the train journey across Canada and the departure point for many soldiers heading to war.
