where would I find where and when a regiment recruited try to find out why my dad left a Leicester regiment and joined the royal scots fusiliers in 1928.would it be possible to find if they recruited there in that year.
Hi, Are you saying that your father was serving in the Leicester Regiment (Regular Army) in 1928 and transferred to the Royal Scots Fusiliers? IMHO He would have requested that transfer of his own volition - rather then being recruited - subject to the consent of his Battalion Commander. Steve
No ,he was in the TA .then joined the rsf but kept his Leicester number . all ways been a puzzle as to why he would
Hi, Thanks for the clarification. I doubt you will find the information you seek. There could be a multitude of reasons why he joined RSF. He quite rightly kept his initial Army Service Number as that was the rule at the time - the number stayed with the man even if he changed Regiments - unlike pre 1920 when Regimental numbers were Regiment specific and changed on transfer.
