I recently came across two of these buttons on my local beach, they look incredibly similar to a kreigsmarine button. However these button are made of a plastic possibly bakelite. Me and my dad were wondering if they could possibly be a shirt button or something like that, however I've never came across button like this on Google so I'm unsure if it's real or a fake? Any help appreciated!

UK/British Merchant Navy would be my guess, and probably in bakelite as you think - might be an idea if you said where they were found

There are more on here plus duplicates of the one you have - Bakelite vintage military buttons Navy | eBay think these may be US Navy

Hi there, thanks for your suggestion! It was found on a beach in Orkney - Scotland so a huge naval presence at Scapa Flow! It was found in the same vicinity as my other finds like a Royal Artillery and Engineers cap badge and general service corp button. Which were located to a nearby camp!

Looks very much like a button from the uniform of RN Miscellaneous Branch Rating (ie: Stores Assistant, Writer etc).
    From naval-history.net. Right hand rating.
