Is there anyone with any knowledge of the following individuals who I believe were POW;s with my father in Stalag VIIIB Lamsdorf and may have been in a work party together (probably E67 in Niklasdorf, (Mikoluvice)Czechia) from August 21 1940 - November 27 1941.

I'm looking for S Gaskill and G Pearson. My father's name was Denis Cooke.

    Hi,

Perhaps your best bet would be searching FMP Casualty Lists as they ought to be listed. You will then be able to obtain their service details from their entries.

    Name: S Gaskill
    Rank: Private
    Army Number: 2044847
    Regiment: King's Own Royal Regiment
    POW Number: 43908
    Camp Type: Stalag
    Camp Number: 344
    Camp Location: Lambinowice, Poland

There are 4 x Pearson (with an initial G) that are shown as being in Lambinowice

The only Cooke (with initial D) shown as being in Lambinowce is:
    Name: D R Cooke
    Rank: Private
    Army Number: 5383336
Regiment: Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry
    POW Number: 12936
    Camp Type: Stalag
    Camp Number: 344
    Camp Location: Lambinowice, Poland

I must add that there are in total 6 x Cooke with an initial D noted as POW's in various camps, so Val if you have any further details that would help

Hi Yes thank-you -- I have all of the above information from the same source. (D R Cooke is definitely my father!). I also know the forenames of Gaskill and the Pearson I am looking for. I am hoping that someone who knew the men might contact and might be able to tell me something about Arbeitskommando E67. I deliberately excluded the above detail in order to cross reference information to be sure we are talking about the correct individuals should anyone who think they knew these men take the trouble to reply. So here's hoping.

Thanks for sharing the additional information.

Clearly TD and I thought from your first post that you were starting from scratch.

I hope I don’t compound my initial error by suggesting you search in British Newspaper Archive as there are often mentions of men taken POW there.

My original post was probably not clear enough -- apologies for that.

British Newspaper Archive is a brilliant suggestion - never occurred to me. Thank-you.

My name is Roman Janas. For more than 14 years I am looking for information about prisoners of war from Jeseník (formerly Freiwaldau) Czech Republic. There is also a town of Mikulovice (formerly Niklasdorf) in our district, where there were 12 working commandos. Of which 8 were British. One of them was E 67 Muna Niklasdorf. I have just finished the book and three years ago I founded a war exhibition in our museum. I'm looking for information about all the prisoners. Can I learn more about your father D R Cooke? This one is missing from my list, but I already have a few names from this list. My mail is (muzeum.ceskaves@gmail.com). Thank you Roman Janas

I have been conducting research into my father's wartime experiences and those of his battalion comrades. Nearly 300 of his battalion were taken prisoner in May 1940 in Northern France and of those 122 were prisoners in Stalag VIIIB Lambinovice. I have copies of my father's POW record card from the National Archives in London and also a postcard and some photos of the men in E67 that I mention above. I could let you have copies of these if that would be helpful and an account of my father's wartime experience

I know that my father was in Mikulovice from Aug 1940 - Nov 1941 when he was moved to Krakorice. I would appreciate any information about the men in E67 during this dates and any information about prisoners in any of the work parties during the war, who had served with the 1st Buckinghamshire Battalion, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry.
